We planted our vines in the Lobo Gardens on Thursday, April 25th. We unraveled the little tendrils tangled in the overhead lighting system, ceremoniously carried the sprawling vines through the Biology Building, and loaded them in a pick up truck with all our class members for the trip across the UNM campus to their new homes.

We want to extend a special thanks to Wesley Noe, UNM Greenhouse Coordinator (a.k.a. the "manny"), for his tender care and expert support for our Grape Vine seedlings. We look forward to transplanting our 14 vines to the Lobo Gardens this week. Cheers to Wes! We couldn't have done this project without you!! With much appreciation from "Julio," "Malbec," "Queen," Popeye," and friends.

Our ENGL 320 Writing About Wine & Culture class visited our flourishing vines at the UNM Greenhouse before preparing to transplant them this week (Week 14 of the Spring Semester). The transformation is stunning! Before (vine rootstock planting twelve weeks ago). After ("Popeye" flourishing at more than four feet, tendrils are wrapping around the light fixtures.) "Julio" exceeds expectations at three feet!

A pouring rain and new dill, arugula, sunflowers, chile peppers, and tomato sprouts graced us on Earth Day at the Lobo Gardens. We are in the final two weeks of the Spring Semester, completing our Writing About Wine & Food Blogs and websites, cultivating new seed beds, and preparing to transplant our vines from the UNM Greenhouse to the campus Lobo Gardens.
